Also called a nozzle propeller. A circular duct is attached to cover a screw propeller. Tugboats, trawlers, large tankers, etc. require a large thrust compared to the size of the propeller, and normal propellers are inefficient. If a circular duct with an airfoil-shaped cross section is attached around the propeller, thrust is also generated from the duct as shown in the figure, making it possible to obtain a large thrust without reducing efficiency. ノズルプロペラともいう。スクリュープロペラを覆う形で円形ダクトを取り付けたものである。引船,トロール船,大型タンカーなどではプロペラの大きさに比べ大きな推力が要求され,ふつうのプロペラでは効率が低くなる。プロペラのまわりに断面が翼形をした円形ダクトを取り付ければ,図のようにダクトからも推力が生じ,効率を下げずに大きな推力を得ることができる。大型タンカー用のダクトは鋼板を曲げて作られ,船体に取り付けられる。
