A glacial lake in the foothills of the Alps in Lombardy, northern Italy. It is long from north to south, with the southern part splitting into two. The lake surface is 198m above sea level and has a maximum depth of 410m. Its area is 145km2 . It is a world-famous tourist destination, with the cities of Como and Lecco on its shores.
