A town in Kamo District, central-southern Gifu Prefecture. Also called "Shichiso." The Hida River flows roughly east-west through the southern part of the town. A large area of forest and wilderness is covered, and in addition to forestry and rice farming, shiitake mushrooms and tea are cultivated. 岐阜県中南部，加茂郡の町。〈しちそう〉とも。町の南部を飛騨川がほぼ東西に流れる。山林原野が広い面積を占め，林業，米作のほか，シイタケ，茶の栽培などが行われる。飛騨川沿いに高山本線が通じる。90.47km2。4484人（2010）。
