The Shinbe clan, which wove and paid tribute to the people, were one of the handicraft clans in the pre-Taika period, and had two lineages: the Baekje clan and the Aya clan. After the Reformation, they were freed and became citizens, but under the Ritsuryo system, 100 households that wove brocade and twill belonged to the Oribe-no-tsukasa under the Ministry of Finance, and were exempt from hard labor and paid one piece of brocade and one piece of twill per person per year.
