Pull rope - Pull rope

A type of fishing gear. When referring to fishing gear, the correct name is "tow rope," but the more commonly used name is "drawn rope." This is a fishing gear in which a fishing line is stretched from the stern of a boat, and while sailing, bait or artificial lures attached to a hook at the end of the line are moved like live bait to attract and catch fish. When using multiple towlines at once, a pole is stretched out to the side of the boat and about 5 to 10 pieces are towed. There are two types of towlines: one is for catching expensive large surface fish such as tuna, bonito, yellowtail, mahi-mahi, and Spanish mackerel, and the other is for using a diving board to align the hook with the swimming layer of fish near the bottom or in the middle layer and tow it. The diving board is also used to make the bait or artificial lure move in a way that resembles the natural fish, and the quality of the diving board determines the quality of the fishing performance. When a fish is caught, the boat must immediately stop and the fishing line must be quickly reeled in, but this requires skill. Most boats are under 5 tons, and many of them are multi-purpose boats, so the scale of fishing is small. In recreational fishing, this is called trolling, and in the United States and other countries, sport fishing for marlin and tuna is popular.

釣り漁具類の一種。漁具をさす場合の名称表記としては「曳(ひき)縄」とするのが正しいが、一般には「引縄」の表記が通行している。船尾から釣り糸を伸ばし、航走して釣り糸の先端の釣り針(ばり)に装着した餌(えさ)や擬餌(ぎじ)を生き餌(え)のように動かして魚を誘い釣獲する釣り漁具である。一時に多数の引縄を使用する場合は、船の側方へ竿(さお)を張り出し、5～10具程度を引航する。マグロ、カツオ、ブリ、シイラ、サワラなど高価な表層性大形魚を目的とする引縄と、潜航板を用いて底層付近や中層にいる魚の遊泳層に釣り針の位置をあわせて引航する引縄とがある。潜航板は餌または擬餌を自然の魚に似せて運動させるためにも使用され、潜航板の良否が漁獲性能の良否を左右する。魚がかかったら、ただちに停船し、すばやく釣り糸を手繰り寄せるが、それには熟練を要する。5トン未満の小型船が大部分で、兼業船が多く、漁業としては規模が小さい。遊漁ではトローリングといい、アメリカなどではカジキやマグロを釣るスポーツフィッシングが盛んである。
