Audition colorée; coloured hearing

This is a type of phenomenon known as synesthesia or synesthesia, in which a certain color sensation impression appears when a certain auditory stimulus is given. People who have a strong tendency to this are called color hearing owners. It is extremely rare for color hearing to occur with simple sound stimuli, but it is said that many people experience color hearing with sound stimuli such as music. 通様相性現象あるいは共感覚と呼ばれる現象の一種で，特定の聴覚刺激が与えられた際に一定の色彩感覚印象がそれに伴って現れること。この傾向の強い人を色聴所有者という。単純な音刺激で色聴が起ることはきわめてまれであるが，音楽のような音刺激では多くの人が色聴を体験するといわれる。
