Turtle barnacle (English name: Chelonibia testudinaria)

A marine animal of the order Sessile of the class Gnathopoda and the family Barnacleidae. The shell reaches a major axis of about 8 cm, but is only about 3 cm high. The shell is white and consists of six heavy plates. It is a barnacle that attaches to the shells of sea turtles (→ Barnacles) and is widely distributed from tropical to temperate seas. 顎脚綱無柄目フジツボ科の海産動物。殻の長径は約 8cmに達するが，高さは 3cmほど。殻は白色で，6枚の重厚な殻板からなる。ウミガメ類の甲につくフジツボ（→フジツボ類）で，熱帯海域から温帯海域に広く分布する。（→顎脚類，甲殻類，節足動物）
