[Died] March 13, 1891. Paris. French poet and playwright. Born into a Norman aristocratic family, he dropped out of the law faculty of the University of Paris and won acclaim for his first collection of poems, Les Cariatides (1842). After the publication of Les Stalactites (46), he wrote theater reviews and satirical pieces for various newspapers, actively attacking the bourgeoisie. He established his reputation as a highbrow poet with Le Sang de la coupe (57) and then Odes funambulesques (57). His other works include poetry collections such as "The Exiles" (67), plays such as "Gringoire" (66), "My Memories" (82), and "Petit traité de poésie française" (72).

[Died] February 9, 1936. Paris. French historian and critic. Influenced by Maurras, he joined the royalist movement "Action Française" and was active as a debater on diplomacy and politics. He showed keen insight into relations with Germany and advocated enriching the country and strengthening its military. His major works include Histoire de France (1924) and Napoléon (31). He was a member of the Académie Française (35).
