[3~54] Chinese historian of the Later Han Dynasty. Father of the siblings Ban Gu, Ban Chao, and Ban Zhao. He attempted to compile a history of the Western Han Dynasty, but died after producing only a few dozen volumes. Ban Gu and Ban Zhao succeeded him and completed the Book of Han.
