…Textured landforms are formed by differences in rocks (including differences between sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks, as well as their respective chemical compositions and textures) and by geological structures in a broad sense (horizontal layers, layers displaced or deformed by faults or folds, the presence or absence of structures such as faults, joints, and bedding, and differences in density). In a sense, all eroded landforms can be said to be textured landforms. Photogeology is a field that focuses on textured landforms, and it attempts to determine geological differences from the characteristics of textured landforms seen on aerial photographs, such as differences in the shape of valleys and slopes, differences in drainage patterns, the presence or absence, density, and direction of linear structures. Below are some examples of textured landforms. …
