Livestock Infectious Disease Prevention Law

Japanese: 家畜伝染病予防法 - かちくでんせんびょうよぼうほう

Law No. 166 of 1951. This law was enacted to promote livestock farming by preventing the outbreak and spread of livestock infectious diseases (including parasitic diseases). It covers cattle, horses, sheep, pigs, chickens, honeybees, etc., and specifies 26 livestock infectious diseases (legally-mandated livestock infectious diseases). In addition, the Livestock Infectious Disease Prevention Law and the Enforcement Regulations of the Livestock Infectious Disease Prevention Law separately specify 71 livestock notifiable infectious diseases. As of the 1997 amendment, legally mandated livestock infectious diseases and notifiable livestock infectious diseases are collectively called notifiable infectious diseases.

昭和26年法律166号。家畜伝染病（寄生虫病を含む）の発生の予防と蔓延を防ぐことにより，畜産振興をはかることを目的として制定された法律。ウシ，ウマ，ヒツジ，ブタ，ニワトリ，ミツバチなどを対象とし，26種の家畜伝染病（家畜法定伝染病）を定め，また家畜伝染病予防法と家畜伝染病予防法施行規則により 71種の家畜届出伝染病を別に規定している。1997年改正により，家畜法定伝染病と家畜届出伝染病を総称して監視伝染病と呼ぶ。
