Iwa no Okami - Iwa no Okami

Japanese:
Iwa no Okami - Iwa no Okami
This god appears only in the Harima no Kuni Fudoki and mainly travels around the country. He appears to have been an influential god in the region, as there are many articles about him in the Fudoki, and he also has 10 descendants. Some articles suggest he was from Izumo, but he is actually a god unique to Harima, and his connection with Izumo is relatively recent, possibly after the reign of Emperor Tenchi (668-671). In any case, it seems that his support base declined early on not long after the Fudoki was compiled, and he became mixed up with the Izumo-related gods. Even at Iwa Shrine in Ichinomiya-cho, Hyogo Prefecture, which would have originally worshiped this god, it is unknown when, but he has come to be worshiped as a god of the Izumo lineage, Iwaza Onamomochi-no-Mikoto (now Okuninushi-no-Mikoto), for the present day. <References> Yagi Tsuyoshi, Studies on the Kofudoki and Ancient Tales
