Halide minerals

A general term for minerals consisting of binary compounds of nonmetallic elements such as fluorine and chlorine, which belong to group 17 of the periodic table, and elements with lower electronegativity. Most naturally occurring compounds are chlorides and fluorides, which are ionic crystals of the salt type. Examples of chlorides include rock salt, potash rock salt, horn silver, carnallite, and chlorite. Examples of fluorides include fluorite and cryolite. They occur in various evaporative salt deposits and hot spring deposits.

周期表中 17族に属するフッ素，塩素などの非金属元素と，これらより電気陰性度の小さい元素との二元化合物から成る鉱物の総称。天然産のものは大部分塩化物およびフッ化物で，これらは塩型式のイオン結晶性である。塩化物の例としては，岩塩，カリ岩塩，ホーン・シルバー (角銀鉱) ，カーナリット，緑塩銅鉱など。フッ化物の例としては，蛍石，氷晶石など。各種蒸発型塩鉱床や温泉沈殿物などの中に産出する。
