Vermont [State] - Vermont
A state in New England, northeastern United States. Abbreviated as Vt. or VT. The state name comes from the French Vert Mont (meaning "green mountain"). The state is long and narrow from north to south, with the Green Mountains, mainly composed of granite, running north to south through the center, and the terrain is generally hilly. Lake Champlain is located in the northwest, and the Connecticut River flows along the state border with New Hampshire in the east. The climate is humid and cool. There is a lot of snow in the winter, and there are many ski resorts. It belongs to a dairy farming area, and there are many dairy cows. Apples and maple syrup are also specialty products. Minerals include granite and marble. Industries include office equipment, musical instruments, agricultural tools, and textiles. The first colony was established in 1724. It joined the Union in 1791.
