Sanshikiasagao (English name) three-color(u)red bindweed

Japanese: サンシキアサガオ（英語表記）three‐colo(u)red bindweed

An annual plant of the Convolvulaceae family native to southern Europe, Sicily, and North Africa. It is also called morning glory. The leaves are elliptical or spatula-shaped. The stems are upright and grow to 20-30 cm, with a single long-stalked flower in the leaf axil. The flowering season is long, from summer to autumn. The flowers are broad and funnel-shaped, 6 cm in diameter, and colored in three colors: blue on the periphery, white in the middle, and yellow in the center, but horticultural varieties vary in color, including white, pink, blue, and purple-brown. The flowers open during the day and close in the evening or on cloudy or rainy days. They are cultivated in a similar way to morning glories, but because the vines do not grow long, they are best planted in flower beds or in pots.
