...A long mouth stalk extends downward from the center of the umbrella, with a mouth opening at the tip. Along the inside of the umbrella is a narrow membrane called the verge, which is a major characteristic of hydromedusae. Tube jellyfish such as the Portuguese man-of-war (illustration) and the Baren jellyfish have a float called a swimming bell at the top, and the lower part is made up of polyps with various functions.
