Born: 1696 (Genroku 9) [Died] October 26, 1769 (Meiwa 6). Edo Edo period engraver. Founder of the Hamano school of swordsmithing. Nicknamed Tarobei, his pen names were Kankei, Otoryuken, and Hankeiko. He was a pupil of Nara Toshinaga, and his first works, bearing the signature Kankei, were mostly gentle Nara-style small patterns, but later he established his own school, changing the patterns to larger ones with Otakanikibori. The Hamano school continued for five generations, producing master craftsmen such as the second generation Noriyuki.
