Oshoro Bay - Oshorowan

...It usually refers to the 8km stretch from Shioya to Ranshima Beach. Oshoro Bay, a small bay in the northwest of a small peninsula with sea cliffs, is 200m wide and extends 900m into the bay. The bottom is sandy and muddy, and there are few wind waves, making it suitable for boat moorings. In 1667 (Kanbun 7), a customs house was established here, and it was famous as a center of herring fishing. The area is designated as the Niseko-Shakotan-Otaru Coast National Park, and the Oshoro Stone Circle on the southeastern plateau of Oshoro Town is designated as a historic site.
