The purpose of this conference is to discuss various issues of daily life, education, peace, etc. from the perspective of mothers and to deepen solidarity. In March 1954, in protest of the American hydrogen bomb tests at Bikini Beach, Hiratsuka Raicho, president of the Japanese Federation of Women's Organizations, sent an "Appeal of Japanese Women Hoping for the Prohibition of Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs" to the International Democratic Women's League. This appeal was supported, and in July 1955, the World Mothers' Conference was held in Lausanne, Switzerland (1,060 people from 68 countries participated, with 14 people from Japan including Kawasaki Natsu, the leader).
