The 1944 Education Act of the United Kingdom. It is named after the then Minister of Education, R. Butler. This act reorganized the British public education system into three successive educational stages: primary, secondary, and further education, and extended the compulsory education age to 15. It also expanded the National Board of Education to become the Ministry of Education, abolished the local authorities that previously only managed basic education schools, and each local educational administration authority became responsible for primary and secondary education.
