Fujinami family

Japanese: 藤波家 - ふじなみけ
Fujinami family
A nobleman of the direct line of Onakatomi Kiyomaro. He inherited the titles of chief priest of the Ise Shrine and chief deputy priest of the Shinto Shrine for generations. He was originally called Iwade, but from the time of Kagetada in the early Edo period, he adopted the family name Fujinami. Both Iwade and Fujinami are place names in Watarai County, Ise Province. His family status as a nobleman was half-family, and in the Edo period, he was given a stipend of 173 koku. During the Meiji Restoration, Naritadada opposed the Imperial Treaty Charter and worked hard for the state, such as attending a procession with 88 courtiers including Nakayama Tadayobu, writing a petition to urge the Imperial Decree to be revised. After the Meiji Restoration, his son Kototada was appointed as a chamberlain and served the Emperor Meiji, and was also the official of the Niikappu Stable Farm and Shimousa Stud Farm, serving as the head horseman. He also made a business trip to Europe and the United States to investigate the Imperial Stable System, and made great contributions to the breeding and improvement of horses.
