The central church of the Society of Jesus in Rome. It was built in the late Mannerist period between 1568 and 1584. Vignola started construction but died during the construction, so Porta took over and the façade was designed by the latter. The wide nave (single nave, about 20m wide) held together by a single vertical semi-cylindrical vault and the façade design, which followed Alberti's techniques, together with the development of the Society of Jesus, had a great influence on Baroque church architecture. The interior decoration dates from the second half of the 17th century, and the ceiling paintings (dome and nave) by Baticcia are famous.

ローマにあるイエズス会の中央教会。マニエリスム後期の建築で，1568‐84年建設。ビニョーラが着工したが建設途中で没したため，ポルタが引き継ぎ，ファサードは後者のデザインによる。縦長の半円筒形ボールトひとつでまとめる幅広い身廊(単廊式，幅約20m)の構成や，アルベルティの手法を踏襲したファサードのデザインは，イエズス会の発展とあいまって，バロック期の教会堂建築に大きな影響を与えた。内部装飾は17世紀後半のもので，バチッチアによる天井画(ドーム，身廊)が名高い。
