A collection of Kabuki actors' reputations and artistic discourse. Compiled by Konninsai Kin'o. Published in January 1772 (An'ei 1). 2 volumes. In contrast to Mimijinshu, which collected anecdotes and artistic discourse about Kamigata actors from the Genroku period, this is a record of the words and deeds of masters and skilled actors who were active in Edo from the Kyoho period onwards. The first volume contains information on how to rank actors in the Hyoban-ki, stories about leading actors, friendly actors, evil actors, villains, young women, and young men, as well as masters of Shosagoto, the nature of Edo spectacles, the origin of Kanadehon Chushingura, and the reputation of Ooshi Yurasuke. The second volume contains talks mainly about the performing arts of Sawamura Sojuro I, Segawa Kikunojo I, and Ichikawa Danjūrō II, as well as talks about the performing arts of Danjūrō I, Nakamura Shichisaburo, Yamanaka Heikurō, Anegawa Shinshiro, Bandō Hikosaburo, Ichikawa Sozaburo, Matsushima Moheiji, Otani Hiroji I and II, and Ichimura Uzaemon VIII, as well as talks about playwriting by Nakamura Denshichi I and Tsuuchi Jihei II.

歌舞伎役者の評判および芸談集。近仁斎薪翁撰。1772年(安永1)正月刊。2巻。元禄歌舞伎の上方役者の逸話，芸談を集めた《耳塵集》に対し，享保以来，江戸で活躍した名人･上手の言行を記録したもの。上巻には，評判記の位の付け方，立役，親仁方，実悪，敵役，若女方，若衆方，それに所作事の名人に関する話，江戸の見物の性格，《仮名手本忠臣蔵》の由来と大星由良助の評判を収録。下巻には，初世沢村宗十郎，初世瀬川菊之丞，2世市川団十郎の芸談を中心に，初世団十郎，中村七三郎，山中平九郎，姉川新四郎，坂東彦三郎，市川宗三郎，松嶋茂平治，初世･2世の大谷広次，8世市村羽左衛門の芸談と，初世中村伝七，2世津打治兵衛の作劇談が収められている。
