(1) Kabuki Kyogen. Historical piece. 7 acts. Alternative readings of the character "kate" (competition) include "hanakurabe," "datekurabe," "sugatakurabe," and "kurabekoshi." Commonly known as "The Tales of Ise." Written by Nagawa Kamesuke. First performed in April 1775 (An'ei 4) at the Osaka Arashi Matsujiro Theatre (the middle play). The main cast includes Mimasu Tokujiro as Narihira, Michizane, Murasame Hime and Mameshirou, Onoue Kumesuke as Izutsu Hime, Seki no To and Shinobu, the first Fujikawa Hachizo as Kujaku Saburo, the first Nakamura Utaemon as Kinatora and Ki no Aritsune, the first Mimasu Daigoro as Wadasaku and Koyoshi, Nakamura Juzo as Yukihira, Fujikawa Ryuzo as Arakawa Sukune, the 2nd Mimasu Tanin (later the 2nd Mimasu Daigoro) as Ikaruga Tōta and Dorano Niyouhachi, and Bandō Iwagoro as Prince Koretaka.

(1)歌舞伎狂言。時代物。7幕。〈競〉の別訓〈はなくらべ〉〈だてくらべ〉〈すがたくらべ〉〈くらべこし〉など。通称《伊勢物語》。奈河（ながわ）亀輔作。1775年(安永4)4月大坂嵐松治郎座(中の芝居)初演。おもな配役は業平･通路･村雨姫･豆四郎を三枡徳次郎，井筒姫･関の戸･信夫（しのぶ）を尾上粂助，孔雀三郎を初世藤川八蔵，紀名虎･紀有常を初世中村歌右衛門，和田作･小よしを初世三枡大五郎，行平を中村十蔵，荒川宿禰（すくね）を藤川柳蔵，斑鳩（いかるが）藤太･どらの鐃八（にようはち）を2世三枡他人(のちの2世三枡大五郎)，惟喬（これたか）親王を坂東岩五郎。
