Abbreviation: Del. A small constellation facing the Milky Way. In Greek mythology, dolphins were messengers of the sea god Poseidon, and it is said that the constellation was created in recognition of their achievement in finding Amphitrite, the beloved wife of the sea god who had fled. Alpha star has an apparent magnitude of 3.9 and a spectral type of B8, while beta star has a magnitude of 3.7 and a spectral type of F3. Due to the shape of the stars αβγδ, it is also known by the Japanese name "Diamond Star." Its approximate position is 20h35m in right ascension and +12° in declination.
