Dry rot fungus - Kanpukin

...The fungus absorbs water from the mycelium that forms in the soil under the foundation of the house, so the mycelium can grow even if the floorboards and pillars are dry. For this reason, it is also called dry rot fungi in Europe. Damage caused by this fungus is rapid, and there are many cases where floorboards have rotted and broken within six months of construction.
