Hatsuse Rokudai

Japanese: 初瀬六代 - はつせろくだい

The name of a Heike-kyoku or Noh piece. (1) Heike-kyoku. In Heike-kyoku, it is usually called "Hase Rokudai" and is also written as "Hase Rokudai" or "Hase Rokudai." Hiramono. The monk Mongaku of Takao prayed to Minamoto no Yoritomo for the life of Taira no Koremori's surviving son Rokudai, and was granted his wish. He managed to save him just before he was killed at Senbon Matsubara in Suruga and set off for the capital. When he went to Daikaku-ji Temple where Rokudai's mother lived, he found no sound of life ("Origoe"). When he asked the neighbors, they told him that Rokudai had gone into seclusion at Chokoku-ji Temple in Hase, Yamato, and had not returned. He sent his retainer Saito Go to Hase to report the news, and his mother was delighted, thinking it was a dream.

平曲･能の曲名。(1)平曲。平曲では〈はせろくだい〉と称するのが通例で，《泊瀬六代》《長谷六代》とも書く。平物（ひらもの）。高雄の僧文覚（もんがく）は，平維盛（これもり）の遺児六代の助命を源頼朝に願っていれられ，駿河の千本松原で斬られる寸前に救い出すことができて，都に向かった。六代の母が住んでいた大覚寺に行ってみると，人音もしない(〈折リ声〉)。近所の人に尋ねると，大和初瀬の長谷（ちようこく）寺へ参籠（さんろう）に行ったまま帰らないというので，家来の斎藤五（さいとうご）を初瀬に急行させ報告させると，母は夢かと喜んだ。
