Year of death: 27th February 1661 (27th March 1661) Year of birth: Tensho 13 (1585) The first ometsuke of the Edo Shogunate. The fourth son of Inoue Kiyohide. Commonly known as Seibei. Chikugo no Kami. Born in Totomi Province (Shizuoka Prefecture), he served Tokugawa Hidetada from 1608, and later became a metsuke under Iemitsu. When the Shogunate first appointed ometsuke in 1632, he was appointed along with Yagyu Munenori, Mizuno Morishige, and Akiyama Masashige, and his stipend was increased to 4,000 koku. In 1632, he was made a daimyo with a stipend of 10,000 koku. He went to Nagasaki as a religious inspector and was involved in government affairs such as controlling foreign merchant ships and banning Christianity, but at the same time he was deeply interested in various Western sciences. His stipend was later increased to 13,000 koku. In 1658, he resigned from his position as ometsuke, and soon after handed over the family headship to his grandson Masakiyo and retired, calling himself Yuzan. 没年:寛文1.2.27(1661.3.27) 生年:天正13(1585) 江戸幕府最初の大目付。井上清秀の4男。通称清兵衛。筑後守。遠江国(静岡県)の生まれで,慶長13(1608)年より徳川秀忠につかえ,のち家光の下で目付となる。寛永9(1632)年幕府が大目付を初めておいたとき,柳生宗矩,水野守重,秋山正重と共に任じられ,4000石に加増。また17年には1万石の大名に取り立てられた。宗門改役として長崎に赴き,異国商船の取締りとキリシタン禁制などの政務に携わるが,その一方で西洋の諸科学に深い関心を寄せる。のち加増されて1万3000石。万治1(1658)年大目付を辞し,まもなく孫の政清に家督を譲って隠居し,幽山と称した。 (大森映子) 出典 朝日日本歴史人物事典:(株)朝日新聞出版朝日日本歴史人物事典について 情報 |
