[1] The name of a Gagaku piece. A piece in the Togaku and Heichou styles. It is also performed in Bugaku. In the Tairamai on the left, four dancers, and occasionally six, dance in layered costumes. It was used at celebratory banquets. Along with the Engiraku on the right, it is a representative Tairamai. Banzairaku. Banzairaku. Mazairaku. [1] 雅楽の曲名。唐楽、平調の曲。舞楽でも演奏される。左の平舞で舞人は四人、まれには六人で襲(かさね)装束を着けて舞う。祝賀の宴に用いられた。右舞の延喜楽と共に平舞の代表的なものである。ばんざいらく。ばんぜいらく。まざいらく。鳥歌万歳楽。※宇津保(970‐999頃)俊蔭「からうじて、万歳楽、声ほのかに掻きならして、弾くときに」[2] 〘名〙① 「とうか(踏歌)」の異称。〔釈日本紀(1274‐1301)〕② =まんざい(万歳)②※塵塚物語(1552)二「いかにも長袖にて大紋のかたびらをめし、御手には鼓をもたせたまひ〈略〉扨は子細なき万歳楽なり」[3] 〘感動〙 危険な時や驚いた時などに唱える厄(やく)よけのことば。多くは、重ねて用いる。くわばらくわばら。※談義本・教訓雑長持(1752)四「縄からげのぶらぶらする棚へ上げられ、身動しする度に、万歳楽(マンザイラク)、世なをし世なをし」
