Masan - Masan

A port city located in Masan Bay on the southern coast of South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. Masanpo opened its port in 1889, Masan-bu was established in 1910, and the bu was reorganized into a city in 1949. In 1995, it was merged with part of Changwon County. It has an area of ​​329.47 square kilometers and a population of 433,695 (as of 2000). It is a city with a thriving variety of industries and commerce. It has developed into an industrial base on the southern coast together with the nearby Changwon Machinery Industrial Complex, with thriving industries in textiles, electronics, electricity, machinery, and metals. An export free zone has been established as a test zone for attracting investment from foreign entrepreneurs, and many Japanese companies have set up here.
