Japanese: ハイム(英語表記)Heim, Karl
Heim, Karl
Born: January 20, 1874 in Württemberg
[Died] August 30, 1958. Tübingen German evangelical theologian. Belonged to the Pietist sect of Lutheranism. Professor of systematic theology at the universities of Münster in 1914 and Tübingen in 1920. He confronted natural scientific thought and tried to apply the faith of the Pietists to the modern world. As a result, instead of a dualistic oppositional scheme, he presented a dimensional thought scheme of "object world-I-thou-God," which is dialectically correlated while being on different levels. His major works include Das Weltbild der Zukunft (1904) (The Future Vision of the World), Das Wesen des evangelischen Christentums (The Essence of Evangelical Christianity) (26), Glaube und Leben (Faith and Life) (28), and Der evangelische Glaube und das Denken der Gegenwart (Evangelical Faith and Contemporary Thought) (34-52).
