Chinese literati painter and poet from the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Born into a noble family in Xuancheng (Anhui Province), his brother Mei Geng and other members of his family were also skilled in painting. His pen names were Yuangong and Yuangong, and his pen names were Qushan and Mei Chi. He was a juren (a person who was a member of the Shunzhi Era) in 1654. He had many connections with leading literati, and in terms of his style, his relationship with Hongren of the Shin'an school is noteworthy. He was adept at painting landscapes and pine trees, and showed a unique style with both wet and dry ink techniques and a free composition method. He had a strong influence on the formation of Shi Tao's style through his friendship with him. His representative work is "A Tu of the Huangshan Red Sandalwood" (Shanghai Museum). He was also famous as a poet, and wrote a collection of poems titled "Tianyan Pavilion Anthology."

中国,明末,清初の文人画家,詩人。宣城 (安徽省) の名族の出身で,弟の梅庚ほか一族も絵にすぐれた。字は遠公,渊公,号は瞿山 (ぐさん) ,梅癡など。順治 11 (1654) 年の挙人。一流の文人と交流が多く,画風に関しては新安派の弘仁との交流が注目される。山水,松をよく描き,潤,渇両様の墨法と自由な構図法で個性的な様式を示し,石濤との交遊を通してその様式形成に強い影響を与えた。代表作『黄山煉丹台図』 (上海博物館) 。詩人としても著名で,自作詩集『天延閣前後集』がある。
