With the beginning of mass Jewish migration to Western Europe and America and the beginning of the collapse of the traditional and closed Jewish ghetto society, a mixture of nationalism, socialism, and a kind of romanticism spread among Jewish intellectuals, and as a concrete example of this, a movement called "Love of Zion" was born among young people and students at the urging of Perets Smolenskin (1842-85).
