1619-1702? (Genna 5-Genroku 15?) A haiku poet of the early Edo period. His family name was Takanose, and he was commonly known as Tarobei. His other name was Tashinshi. He was from Kyoto. He first followed Sadamuro and Shigeyori, and later became a direct disciple of Teitoku. He is one of the Seven Immortal Haiku Poets of the Teimon School. He was a gentle and sincere person who followed his teacher's style all his life and did not follow trends. The author of Teitoku Eidaiki, published in 1692 (Genroku 5), commented that he was "the most senior haiku poet in Kyoto today," but "he is neither a poison nor a medicine for the path of haiku." His works include Ruisenshu and others. "Even though the moon's face is dark, I still see the eighteenth night" (Gyokukaishu). Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
