Queen of Hellenistic Egypt (Ptolemy dynasty). In many ways she is seen as the forerunner of the famous Queen Cleopatra (VII) of the same dynasty. Daughter of Ptolemy I. She was initially married to the Thracian king Lysimachus, who was some forty years her senior. After his death she remarried her own half-brother Ptolemy Keraunos (Lightning), but he died within a year. She returned to Egypt and married her younger brother Ptolemy II (278 BC), becoming queen of Egypt. During that time, her first wife, Arsinoe I (the daughter of Lysimachus), was deposed along with their three children.

ヘレニズム時代エジプト(プトレマイオス王朝)の王妃。いろいろな意味で，同朝の有名なクレオパトラ(7世)女王の先蹤（せんしよう）とも見られる。プトレマイオス1世の娘。初め四十数歳も年上のトラキア王，老リュシマコスにめあわされ，その没後自分の異母兄プトレマイオス･ケラウノス(稲妻)と再婚したが，これは1年で死別。エジプトに戻って実弟プトレマイオス2世と結婚し(前278)，エジプト王妃となった。その間先妻アルシノエ1世(前述リュシマコスの娘)は3子とともに除かれた。
