Born in 1656. Second son of Okubo Tadatomo. Served as a page group head clerk, shoin head clerk, and chamberlain. In 1706, when he was appointed as a young elder of the Nishimaru, he was granted an additional 5,000 koku and became the first head of the Okubo family to rule Matsunaga Domain in Suruga (Shizuoka Prefecture). 16,000 koku.
