...Initially, the Kassite dynasty's rule was limited to northern Babylonia, but later in this period (around 1475 BC), it extended its control over southern Babylonia as well, completing its rule over the whole of Babylonia. The reigns of the 15th to 21st kings, especially Kadashman-enlil I (18th?, reigned 1374-1360 BC) and Burnabriash II (19th?, reigned 1359-1333 BC), correspond to the time of the Amarna letters, and Babylon under the Kassite dynasty had become a power on a par with Egypt, Hittite, Mitanni, and Assyria. During the period from Kurigalzu II (22nd) to Kashtiliash IV (28th) (1332-1225 BC), there was active commercial activity centered around the royal capital of Dur-Kurigalzu, and many economic documents and letters have survived to attest to this. ...
