A type of additional tax in the Edo period. It is also called nobekoku or dememaikome. In the beginning, mainly in the Kanto region, rice tax was paid in a heap in a masu (box), but in 1616 (Genwa 2), the heap was scraped off with a tokaki (a wooden scraper), and instead, two sho were added to a 3 to 5 sho bale, which was paid as 3 to 7 sho. These two sho were called nobekoku, and this system was called 37 nobe, and in the Kanto and Tokai regions, it was also called honkoku hakaridate. The ratio of nobekoku to 46 sho varied depending on the region, and there was an example of 4 to 6 sho for one koku in the Takasaki domain. This old custom continued even after the Meiji Restoration, but was abolished with the land tax reform.
