Kuritake (chestnut mushroom) - Naematoloma sublateritium
A mushroom of the Basidiomycete family, Order Acarinales, and Family Acanthaceae. In autumn, it grows in colonies at the base of dead trees and stumps in broadleaf forests. The cap is 3-8 cm in diameter, hemispherical, and opens flat backwards. It is brown in color and the flesh is yellowish-white. The stalk is 0.8-1.5 cm in diameter, 5-10 cm long, and the upper half is yellowish-white and the lower half is brown. It is an edible mushroom that is widely distributed in Japan, China, Siberia, Asia Minor, Europe, North America, etc.
