Deferred payment export - nobebaraiyushutsu

Japanese: 延払輸出 - のべばらいゆしゅつ

Deferred payment exports are exports for which the settlement period for export payments for goods exceeds one year after shipment. Deferred payment exports are mainly for capital goods with huge contract amounts and long delivery times, such as plants and ships. The reason it is called a "deferred payment" is because the importer postpones payment, but the exporter (supplier) provides credit to the importer (buyer) (medium-term: less than five years, long-term: five years or more). The most common method of credit provision is direct supplier's credit from the exporter to the importer, in which the exporter borrows funds from an export credit agency (the Export-Import Bank of Japan, the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund) and repays them each time the export payment is collected from the importer.

貨物輸出代金決済期間が船積み後1年を超える輸出を延払輸出という。延払輸出の対象となるのは，おもにプラント類，船舶など契約金額が巨額でかつ納期が長い資本財である。輸入者が支払を繰り延べて行うことが〈延払いdeferred payment〉といわれるゆえんだが，輸出者(サプライヤー)は輸入者(バイヤー)に対して信用の供与(5年未満が中期，5年以上が長期)を行う。信用供与の方法は輸出者から輸入者に対する直接のサプライヤーズ･クレジットが一般的で，これは，輸出者は輸出信用供与機関(日本輸出入銀行，海外経済協力基金)から資金を借り，輸入者から輸出代金を回収するごとに返済するという方法である。
