Japanese: 月雪花寝物語 - つきゆきはなねものがたり

An autobiographical essay by the Kabuki actor Nakamura Nakazo I. Date of publication unknown. Nakazo was a famous actor of the An'ei and Tenmei periods (1772-89), and the autobiographical section in particular is a unique account written in a unique colloquial style, frankly and confessionally recounting the hardships of his life, starting out as a junior actor. As a Kabuki actor's autobiography, it is a pioneering and highly valued document, and, together with other writings such as Shukaku Nikki (Diary of Shukaku) and Shukaku Essays, it is an indispensable resource for understanding Kabuki and the private lives of actors in the Tenmei period.

歌舞伎役者初世中村仲蔵の自伝的随筆。成立年不詳。仲蔵は安永･天明期(1772‐89)の名優で，ことに，その自叙伝的部分の筆致は，特殊な口語風の文体をまじえて，下回り役者から出発した辛苦にみちた半生の経歴を赤裸々に，また告白的に物語ったユニークな記述である。歌舞伎俳優の自伝として，先駆的な珍重すべき文献であり，《秀鶴日記（しゆうかくにつき）》《秀鶴随筆》などの著述と並んで，天明期の歌舞伎と俳優の私生活を知るうえにも欠かせない好資料。
