Imakiriwatashi - I am now

Japanese:
Imakiriwatashi - I am now
A ferry dock built on the southern part of Lake Hamana between Maisaka-juku (present-day Hamamatsu City) and Arai-juku (Kosai City) on the Tokaido. A bridge was built over the Hamana River, which flows from Lake Hamana into the Enshu Nada Sea, but it collapsed due to an earthquake and tsunami during the Sengoku period. In the Edo period, a ferry dock was established between Maisaka and Arai, and the residents of Arai-juku operated boats under the supervision of officials at Arai Barrier. The ferry organization was based on the "Juniza," a tradition dating back to the Imagawa clan era in the Middle Ages, and 120 boats were operated by 360 boatmen divided into 12 groups. During times of heavy traffic, a yosebune system was applied, and boats were donated from surrounding villages. A bridge was built in 1881, and the dock disappeared.
