A city in the northwest of Aichi Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1971. Located on the Nobi Plain and close to Nagoya City, the city practices diversified agriculture, focusing on rice, vegetables, and eggs. The ceramic, chemical, and electrical industries are well developed, and carp streamers (koinobori) are a local specialty. It is served by the Meitetsu Inuyama Line, and large housing complexes have been developed, making it within the commuting area of Nagoya City. Area: 10.47 km2 . Population: 47,340 (2010).
