…It is a paper made by cutting a whole sheet of washi paper in half horizontally and joining several sheets together horizontally, and was widely used as writing paper in the early modern and modern periods. At the end of the Muromachi period and the beginning of the early modern period, kiritsugigami appeared, in which origami paper was cut in half along the folds and pasted together horizontally, and this developed into scroll paper in the early modern period. When writing a letter using scroll paper, the correct way to write is to hold the rolled paper in your left hand, hold it in the air, and roll up the paper one by one while running the brush with your right hand. …
