A mountain in the Echimi Mountains in the western part of the Ryohaku Mountains, which stretch along the border between Gifu and Fukui prefectures. Also known as Mt. Gongen. Elevation 1,617m. Famous as a sacred place of Hakusan faith. The village shrine, Hakusan Shrine, is located in Nogo, Neo, Motosu City, Gifu Prefecture. At Hakusan Shrine, Sarugaku Kyogen, from which the place name is derived, is performed at the annual festival on April 13 every year. This is considered to be the original form of Noh Kyogen, and in 1976 it was designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property as "Noh and Kyogen of Nogo." 岐阜・福井両県境に連なる両白山地西部越美山地にある山。別称権現山。標高 1617m。白山信仰の霊場として有名。里の宮,白山神社は岐阜県本巣市根尾能郷にある。白山神社では,地名の由来でもある猿楽狂言が毎年4月 13日の例祭に演じられるが,これは能狂言の原形とみられており,1976年に「能郷の能・狂言」として重要無形民俗文化財に指定された。
