Pseudo-photographic effect

When detecting radiation from a sample piece using autoradiography, the photosensitive emulsion may darken due to contact with the sample surface even if there is no radiation. This can be caused by moisture in the sample or contact with a metal surface. It is also called the Fotecky effect*, false photographic effect*, or Vogel-Corsson-Russell effect*. オートラジオグラフィーによって，試料片からの放射線を検出する場合に，放射線の影響がなくとも試料表面との接触などの影響で感光乳剤が黒化すること．試料中に含まれる水分や，金属表面との接触などが原因となりうる．フォテキー効果＊，あるいは偽写真効果＊，ヴォーゲル‐コルソン‐ラッセル効果＊とも呼ばれる．分野によってはホテキー効果＊と記してある例もある．
