Agricultural chemistry - Nougeikagaku

It refers to a broad field of applied chemistry that studies chemical phenomena related to agricultural production and chemical research into the use of agricultural and fishery products. There are various branches such as soil science, fertilizer science, pesticide science, nutritional chemistry, fermentation and brewing science, food processing chemistry, agricultural product utilization, forestry chemistry, livestock chemistry, and fisheries chemistry, but in recent years, more easily understood names such as applied biochemistry and applied life chemistry have become more commonly used.

農業生産に関連する化学的事象の研究や，農業・水産業などの生産物の利用についての化学的研究などを行う，広義の応用化学の一分野をいう．土壌学，肥料学，農薬学，栄養化学，発酵・醸造学，食品製造化学，農産物利用学，林産化学，畜産化学，水産化学などの諸分科があったが，最近はよりわかりやすい応用生物化学や応用生命化学などの名称が多く用いられている．
