Portfolio selection theory

A theory that analyzes the form in which people want to hold their assets, such as cash, bonds, stocks, land, etc. Economic agents faced with future uncertainty can obtain some sort of future reward by holding assets in various forms, and it is believed that each economic agent will select a combination of assets that will maximize the expected value of future rewards, taking into account the rate of return and the degree of risk.
