She was the daughter of Yong King Shuli, but in 710 she was married to the 7-year-old Tubo King Tidetsun as the daughter of Emperor Zhongzong of the Tang Dynasty. She made efforts throughout her life to promote peace among the Tang Dynasty and contributed to the introduction of Confucian, Buddhist and Taoist teachings and learning. In her later years, she appears to have led the preparation period for the full-scale introduction of Buddhism. In Tibetan historical records, her biography is confused with that of Princess Wencheng.

雍王守礼の娘であったが，唐の中宗の娘として 710年当時7歳の吐蕃王ティデツクツェンに嫁した。終生唐蕃和親のために努力を重ね，儒・仏・道教の教えや学問の移入にも貢献した。晩年には仏教の本格的導入の準備時代を指導した様子である。チベットの史書では文成公主と混同した伝記が伝えられている。
