Born: May 11, 1888 in Taemun
[Died] September 22, 1989. New York. Russian-born American popular music composer. His real name was Israel Baline. He came to the United States in 1893 and worked in a variety of jobs. In 1911, he became famous with the big hit "Alexander's Ragtime Band," and thereafter wrote and composed more than 1,500 songs. His main works include the musical "Annie Get Your Gun" (1946) and the popular songs "Always," "All Alone," and "White Christmas."

[Died] November 5, 1997. Born in Oxford, Oxford Latvia, British political philosopher and historian of political thought. He served as professor of social and political theory at Oxford University. His major works include Four Essays on Liberty (1969) and Vico and Herder (76). Berlin's Selected Works have also been published in Japan.
